Bhujanga’means serpent in Sanskrit. In ‘Bhujangasana’ one looks like a cobra with its up hood and about to strike.
Be seated in Vajrasana.
Lie down with both palms pressing down on either side of the body and then slowly push up your torso keeping abdomen firmly pressed down on the floor. Inhale and raise the forehead. Push the chin forward and pull the trunk up. Visualise the movement of the snake raising its hood and feel the stretch of the spine.
Benefits: This yoga technique enhances flexibility and strengthens the muscles around the spinal column. It relieves back pain and improves functions of the heart, adrenal gland, liver, and kidney.
